Lyrics:
How many days will the wet weather last?
I want to know will the clouds when they roll back
Reveal a man in an old mac
Living on a park bench, sitting on his own?
Cut to the rain as it runs down the glass
Eventually through the lightning and thunder, we see a man going under
This is how it happens
This is what he said

I don't need love, though temptation is sweet
Give me your hand 'til I'm back on me feet
You're always telling me about my misery
I've seen things you'll never see
Don't pity me

Focus in on the breath of a man
Who takes a brown paper bag
From his knapsack
Between his whispers and wise cracks
He's looking for permission
Screaming at the sky

I don't need love, though temptation is sweet
Give me your hand 'til I'm back on me feet
You're always telling me about my misery
I've seen things you'll never see
Don't pity me

I'll be right again
Be upright without you
I'll stand up again
Kick up a fuss again too
Cut back again to a girl walking by
Until the feet that are all shoes and no socks
Climb an invisible soap box
Laughing at the traffic
Shouting at the world

I don't need love, though temptation is sweet
Give me your hand 'til I'm back on me feet
You're always telling me about my misery
I've seen things you'll never see
Don't pity me

I'll stand up again
Kick up a fuss again too
I'll be right again
Be upright without you
We see a life through the eyes of a man
As he live and he dies
By a simple tattoo

I'll be back again
When I land on my feet
I'll stand up again
Kick up a fuss again, wouldn't you
Well there you go, though we tried hard to know him
It's there on his face
He's a case where there's clearly no hope
Give me your hand again
'Til I land again

His face starts to fade
As we pull down the shade
And the picture we made
Is in glorious cinemascope
I'll be back

I wish this song was on Spotify. It’s my favorite solo McCartney song.

This is one of McCartney's best songs ever. How could have been all but thrown away and unknown?!?!?

how can a perfectly crafted pop song like this be unknown?

Got this on the remastered album of Flowers in the Dirt. Not on Spotify, so this upload is seriously appreciated!

What an incredible single with "Once Upon a long ago" on the A side and this masterpiece on the B-side.

Heard this today on The Beatles channel on Sirius. Never listened to this one before, but it stuck with me. Love the late 80’s early 90’s vibe the song give off. It just seems so effortless for Sir Paul to be great @ music

This was a B side. Incredible song. John Lennon I'm sure would have rated this.

This would have been good on an unreleased album around 1987/1988, along with once upon a long ago, Lindiana, Same love and there are some other great songs around this time not on an album. (although it does have a flowers in the dirt vibe).

Why would you hide a song this great on a B-side?

Never heard this before! It came on after I listened to "Unce upon..." that I love. I thought it was a version of "Brass in Pocket" that started playing!

I actually heard this cover version from a tribute CD back in 2001 before the original and fell in love with it. Without the 80s glitz this version still sounds pretty modern for being 20 years old already. Plus the band Cockeyed Ghost sneaks in some Beatles and Tears for Fears lyrics near the end. FYI it’s the last song on the CD…
