My dog will be 14yo in 2 months from now. Had him since he was a month old and im his chosen human. Im literally the only one out of the family he'd want or offer to pick him up. Still to this day he lets me lnow when he wants me to pick him up by raring up on my leg. Any time hes scared, anxious, or just wants cuddles he always wants me to pick him up. Definitely isnt a normal thing for a dog to actually wanna be picked up.

I get the feeling my dog's licks mean "Put me down" or "Stop touching me". Half the time she licks when she wants to be petting but sometimes it feels like a defence method
