Dr. Peter Kwasniewski argues that the Novus Ordo Mass should be discarded and the traditional Latin Mass should become the norm again in the Roman Catholic Church. We'll explore how he came to that conclusion after decades of study.

I moved my family across the country. I lived in a place with 1 FSSP parish in a diocese that has a 73 year old bishop. I was worried that when he retires we could lose the TLM. Where we moved there is an FSSP, ICKSP, SSPX and 2 diocesan TLMs within 35 minute of us. There are also 2 more TLM with in 2 hours of us.

God Bless you, Dr. K. Your support of the traditional Roman Rite gives me hope.

Thank you for this conversation. I heard my first Tridentine Mass on Easter Sunday 2024. I have been climbing my way out of the Novus Ordo since. I was a “lector” and I was a “EMHC” and I am on a mission to pass the faith to my children. Incrementally we are hearing the Tridentine Mass more and more. We are fortunate that we have many options all within an hour - Indult, FSSP, SSPX. I am confident that the Rosary, The Angelus, First Friday, First Saturday, Propers Reading at Dinner, Fasting, Abstinence, etc. It has all transformed our family. Praise God! Kwasniewski’s books have been very helpful as well!

When Kwasniewski and Sammons contrast the Novus and Vetus Ordines using the metaphor of 2 versus 3 dimensions, it reminded me of the meme of the Hermeneutic of Continuity that depicts a beautifully sketched back end of a horse with realistic, three-dimensional contouring connected to a front end drawn in a childish, cartoonish fashion with stick legs, no shading, and bad proportions. I wish that Trads would stress not just the difference in aesthetics but more importantly the theological symbolism and doctrinal meaning that was lost by recasting the mass as a meal instead of a sacrifice.

Every single bit of this, in a parallel arc, hits home as the product of the same time period. If you are ~40 to 60 yo, this was the Church you experienced. We are what I call “Vatican II orphans” - we were orphaned from the Faith from early V2 malformed catechesis in the ‘new’ Church of the 1970’s & 1980’s after all norms were dropped. We are emerging into an understanding of what we lost and finding the treasures of the Bride of Christ in the TLM. Thank you for this frank discussion. More of the same are needed!

It's interesting that Dr. Peter Kwasniewski mentioned the Music...."that it saved the day" the Music of the Church and I mean Gregorian Chant & medieval polyphony (Palestrina, Byrd, Lassus, Josquin, Victoria, Guerrero & so on) these are the HIGH POINT in the history of the Catholic Church in terms spirituality in Music.. and in fact I would even go as far as pointing out that medieval spirituality and writing of the Saints and architecture are also the high point too.

I could listen to this conversation all the time. Very informative and interesting. I was able to the TLM frequently when I was house sitting early this year. I loved it. There is so much difference between that and the Novus Ordo Mass where I usually go. Much more spiritual, it strengthened my Faith.

No, the priest is not facing "away" from the people. He is facing towards God! There is a huge difference in perspective. Mass is not about the people. It is all about God.

Excellent, bestest, most goodest interview to be shared with friends and family who can't understand why we attend the TLM. Will be ordering the book today

Thank you, Dr. K. Your path is rather like ours. We are fortunate to live within striking distance of an FSSP parish. We both have great difficulty when we are obliged, while traveling, to attend the N.O.

As a convert to Catholicism from Protestantism in 2019, I discovered the TLM in 2023 and stayed. My late husband was converted to Catholicism in 2023, in part because of what he experienced at the TLM. He died suddenly in 2024, after which two of my former colleagues, who are EU lawyers and nationals of the country where I reside legally, objected to my attending the TLM to such an extent (calling me & our priest 'fascists', 'mysogynists', etc.) that they suggested that I leave their country, stating, 'we can help you with that.' Apparently, as they informed me, they pride themselves on their far-left socialist political beliefs, so they must try to prevent my attending the TLM, which is the result of my suffering from 'a mental health disorder'. Who knew lawyers are honorary psychiatrists by dint of their law degrees/doctorates!

I did 2 years at a Parish NOM church. Found the TLM in the second year. Came into the Church in 23 through the FSSP. Wouldn't have otherwise.

Note: I do go at times during week to a NOM but not the ones I did RCIA at which were problematic.

First of all thank you brothers for the conversation I agree in a lot of it, to love the Lord and to want to give him the best worship we can is the way to go, but we can’t forget that we are part of His church with a divine and a human part and that divine part is PRESENT even in the new Mass, so to tell people not to be part of it when they don’t really know much is not a good thing to do, let’s pray more for the church, for the priests around the world to be Holy and also ourselves help with our lives so we can be better Catholics growing on our faith and understanding that in the end HE is the one in charge!!! The only one that can see what’s in our hearts!!! And yes the traditional Mass is beautiful and really deep, but the new Mass can also be done with solemnity and the main thing is that we can worship and show those that don’t know how it needs to be!!! Don’t forget that the Lord is also present, thank GOD for the church, the pope, and all the priest around the world!!! JESUS IS KING
GOD BLESS

Video Timeline 58:12 - I totally feel the same way. I attended both the Novus Ordo and the Tradition Latin Mass every Sunday. I only go to the Novus Ordo Mass because my family refuses to go to the Tradition Latin Mass. It causes me so much grief every time I go to the Novus Ordo. I’m 55 years old and I can’t get over the immense pain and anger I suffer because of what was stolen from me before I was even born!

Although a NO Mass CAN be reverent, the TLM is reverent in it's very bones!
