Slow Mo Turbo Single Spey - one of my most used casts.

One of my most used casts - the Turbo Single Spey. In the single-handed Spey world a “turbo” cast is a Spey cast in which you add a haul to get more line speed and distance.

It is a pretty rad cast when you have a few trees behind you and need to make a long cast.

In case you are one of those people (like me) who want to know what the outfit used was, it was a Sage 690-4 R8 Core, with a WF6 RIO Single Handed Spey line on - oh, and a 9ft, 3X leader.

Folks ask me if it’s worth the time to learn Spey casting. I just show them this video and that’s all it takes. 😄

When I make a switch or a single spey cast, the loop looks tight at the beginning, then the leader and the fly are pulled out of water vertically, flies high, and do not form a steady loop once the leader leaves the water surface, the loop just become open, unrolls quickly, and the upper leg is a little curve, but get some distance like 60/70ft and unrolls straightly. I have known about my creeping and over power problems. And I notice that the leader should like a long tail, flies follow the head straightly .Using 5wt 9ft singlehanded rod, Rio scandi short 210grs, 9ft or 13ft 4X mono leader with size 12 dry fly. So is this phenomenon called tailing loop or blowing anchor? I want to fix these problems, hope for some direction, thank you.

I thought that looked very nice indeed.

Why didn't you remove the sound track and make it silent? Or, use another clip's sound track that's not slo-mo'ed? It's about the quality of your video.
