The Explanation was great, my professor was more focused on flexing her knowledge than on making the concept understandable.

I also wanted to mention that the 0 branches and 1 inputs represented as solid and dashed branches can be followed to obtain the message vector as well. For instance, Running down a dashed brach in the Trelli's Diagram means that the input bit was a 1.
