Iterative Design in the Wild

Since I have been designing stuff for Arduino to be 3D printed, I can see iterative design everywhere. I have done it so many times myself. Even if you think you got your device perfect you will still find flaws that come out while it is in real-life use.

In this video, you can see such a case in the wild that I stumbled upon. The outdoor gym training machine has an obvious flaw where the foot petal pipe gets dented after heavy use. And right next to it there is another version of the same machine where this problem is already fixed.

Without the bumpers people are more likely to get hurt. i.e. flip onto their face or fall completely backwards. They are necessary.
