Dark reality of IT jobs in India is that many IT employees are treated by their clients as a cheap resource. It is quite evident when we look at the IT Jobs market and the why nobody wants to work in IT industry for long term. Future of IT industry in India will very well depend on these factors such as the treatment of IT employees and the way we are making room for better IT jobs. IT layoffs and Tech layoffs are always around the corner in various organizations these days. IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, HCL Tech, among others have faced tough times recently.

We have seen TCS Layoffs, Infosys layoffs, and Wipro layoffs to name a few IT layoffs and Tech layoffs in the recent times. The dark reality of IT industry is thus making itself more pronounced for the IT employees who are going through it every single day. IT jobs in India are always some of the jobs for which the supply is higher than the demand. But on the flip side, those who still manage to get into IT companies like TCS, Infosys, WIpro, Cognizant, Accenture, and HCL Tech, have to face other issues while working in an IT job. Reality of IT job or reality of IT sector is often not much talked about.

IT employees suffer because of the bad working conditions and toxic work culture in IT companies. This may not be the case for IT jobs in Canada or IT jobs in USA, however, as far as IT jobs in India are concerned, the clients of IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech, Cognizant, and Accenture are based out of EU or North America, because of which they consider Indian IT employees as a cheap resource. When an Indian IT employee is trying to get some help from the client regarding any problem they are facing, the client will try to avoid helping out which such a problem at an immediate basis because the person on the other side isn’t valuable enough.

This harsh reality of IT jobs and dark reality of IT industry in general is something that every IT employee suffers silently. Many IT employees move out and start working for product companies however, many others have to face the IT company job reality for a long time before they can move out. In this video, I talked about the reasons for such dark reality of IT jobs and also how employees can deal with this IT sector reality more effectively. If you’re wondering why IT jobs are stressful then you should know that for most part, IT jobs are not stressful because it is the fault of the IT employees but is the fault of the way Indian IT industry is set up.

If you are keen to know about the future of IT industry in India and also other IT industry updates then make sure to follow, I would post regularly about IT industry updates and what they mean for IT employees and also It companies. I cover TCS news, infosys news, Wipro news, and HCL updates, Accenture updates, all with the focus on larger trends in the IT services market. Hope you find this video valuable, see you in the next one.

I think the general mindset of people in Indian IT is that we will work for 15 years and then open our business with our savings. Government should also intervene and make strong labour laws against forced resignations.

I recently read a news about an IIT MTech graduate crashing his superbike into a divider and dying on the spot. I think this general mindset of people living life on steroids has to change. Generally what is happening is that there are people who get into these startups milking good salaries. But the amount of stress is insane so to vent out the stress they generally buy these super cars, superbikes, heavy drinking on the weekends. It's none of my business to tell people what to do in their lives but I am clearly sensing burn out in the industry. What is even the point of money if you are in stress 24*7. The whole point of money is to reduce stress not increase it.

Basically this servant kind of mentality is inculcated by Sr. Indians into their subordinates, who later become managers & rub this nonsense on their team. It’s a vicious cycle where no one be blamed. The only solution to end such kind of toxicity: Current gen IT workers should keep aside their egos, maintain some standards, treat their colleagues not as competition, shouldn’t get into shameless/gross bitching, be united & give feedback to your management on such bad practices and there will be still some manager’s chamchas who shamelessly want to stomp onto their colleagues by revealing/backstabbing. Never encourage such toxicity, fear only god or yourself(if atheist), remember we all are just small tiny organisms in this universe! TAKE A STAND!!!

This is also true in the US at Big 4 firms. There’s an expectation to immediately start completing deliverables on day 1 of a client engagement with almost no onboarding time.

Thank you you are doing God's work. Employees are also to blame because they do not stand up for themselves and are not united. They are just running after money.

I am 67 today: never ever worked even remotely in an IT sector of this current world. in my humble opinion, it is not a problem which can be pinpointed to one section of the entire industry. [ Client - Customer - employee -> ] this is what we see from the outside world and try to to blame someone in this process; but add to this [ society - governmental "greed" for GDP ] and it further becomes toxic. also Needs or replaced by "wants" which is part of the societal creation. as this happens to be a sort of golden era of social media, individuals should start to "resist" this toxic work culture [ I would say the Western materialistic culture] by posting their dissidence on whichever platform convenient, so that corporate managements wake up and address the issue. maybe a pipe dream but still one of the solutions which came to my mind. if i am wrong please discard it like garbage. regards

I do appreciate this genuine video. Industry is driven more by process, but less by humans. Appreciate if you can share some more tips and scenarios to handle the work environment.

I would like to share a scenario with you. I worked as a QA analyst within short span of 3-4 weeks into the project. Since I got lot of questions regarding the functionality, I tried to make up a notes to clarify with seniors. But, in scrum call they mentioned that they will address the issue. But post scrum call no one gave inputs.

This created lot of lag In completion of testing the product and it backfired my work .

When individual is not delivering overstressed, then immediate concern from the client would be " Skill Issue" rather behaviour issues, As mentioned " Cheap resources " Replace with new resource, When New resource not up to work over time client also realize, they are not cheap resource, by the time contract itself will end and run for another client, cycle continues.

This is Capitalist World/Economy, Profit Driven Economy. Here Employees know how to to slavery. Employees do not know what is human rights, what is there rights, they have submitted there rights to employers. This is happening because people not electing/choosing Good Government, Bad people hold power, Bad people (politicians and corporates) support one another to exploit poor, innocent, uneducated, mass people (employee class). This will not go until people get educated/know about there rights, duties and responsibilities. Unfortunately our education system do not give this education. our education system is teaching how to become slave. politicians and corporates create education system, so education is that way and employees are slaves

Brilliant video we need more of this please keep it flowing
People need to think deep as it’s helps them and leaders are forced to be future fit 🎉 it’s been years of burn out not worth it
Keep it simple fun and open to all across sectors esp across finance so more creativity and more money in the long run. They are running after quick money and people are forced to follow only if u allow that trend to continue 🤩
