Rush - Distant Early Warning (Bass Cover)

last year, my father took his own life. this is something that still to this day hasn't fully set in for me, i'm not sure if it ever will. his birthday was in april, so for every week of the month of april i'm doing a cover of some of our favorite songs from our favorite band, rush, in his memory. i know if you feel like you want to give up, seemingly empty platitudes from someone on the internet may not mean much. but always remember someone, somewhere, loves you. this life is worth staying for. rest easy dad, i love you.

this is one of my favorite rush songs, and absolutely one of my favorites to play. it's so quintessentially 80's cold war. i remember when i was a kid my dad always got excited to hear this song, he always said the bassline in the song "sounded badass", whatever that means. i remember i learned this song and perfected it as best i could to show him someday.

So very sorry. I lost a friend to suicide almost 6 years ago. The feeling of not having been able to help and "I should have known" is something that still sticks with me and I think all survivors deal with. Great job on the song and a fitting tribute. I hope you continue to heal and find peace with the loss of your dad.
