Review of the Master Woodsman by WC Knives

I put this knife through stuff I normally do in the woods for almost two months. I documented six tasks: Creating a bow and drill set, scraping fat lighter'd shavings and ferro rod ignition, chopping ability, carving a bucksaw, improvising a drawknife, and lashing a spear/extended chopping tool.

Thanks for watching, and, as always, keep Doing the Stuff of Self-Reliance!

Thanks so much for your extensive work out, very well done and much appreciated. The knife you had was a very early design and the design has been adjusted from review comments and even my use in the woods. My channel has a playlist dedicated to this design and concept for those wanting to know more about the design intent, sharpening and so much more. The point of the knife is now more of a Kephart style point for a stronger tip and the transition from a scandi to the saber is more serpentine. I found that that transition was a sweet spot for carving and wanted to enhance that area a bit. The points you made about hot spots and the sharp choil was also changed for those reasons you mentioned. Again, very well done and appreciated. Loved your demonstration of lashing it to a spear.

Great review...like the making of other tools using the knife. William C... does make some great knives. Got a Master Woodsman, a skinner and one of his crooked knives...can pretty much do anything with these three.
All the VERY BEST!

I love the technique you use to make an improvised draw knife I've never thought of that.

Love the techniques used... and absolutely love the knife (yes, I have a modified one - woodsman grind but with a flat distal taper instead of the saber grind and a longer scandi) also have a Master Woodsman model 1... they are both amazing to use...
great job presenting the useful aspect of the knife.
All the (continued) VERY BEST!

Mr. Sherpa, we have been a fan for awhile and finally subscribed. Sorry it took so long. Keep up the sharing. BTW, I own several Collins knives. I love em.

Say Heah, When I got my Mora 2000, I liked that grind, so when William designed his Master Woodsman, I got one too, but since all of them are custom made, I had mine made in 3V and 8"+ blade, I wanted it in 3/16ths, but as fate has it it came out 1/4" Anyhow, I also had a choil put on it with a White G-10 handle with red and blue liners. I also had a smaller knife made to match. I posted them on my Google Plus under my Paul'ie 4X. When I use this combo, all I add is a folding saw, since I don't really need a Hatchet. Since both of my knives were different than William's designs, he let me name them, so I named my Master Woodsman Paul'ies Delight, and the smaller one Paul'ies Pride, yeah, both are in 3V since William sent them to Peter's Heat and Treat to have them Tempered. And Peter's Deferentially Tempered them, I really like Peter's Heat and Treat and I have a few knives that Peter's Tempered for me and I'm very happy with their work. But just the other day, I ordered another Busse Combat, their most recent offering in the INFI Steel that I really love. It's a very strong steel all weather, and easy to sharpen, I got the Urgent Fury, that's a great match to another new offering my Flak Jack. A near perfect match, but the INFI Steel is outstanding. I got one for you, What's the difference between Beer Nuts and Deer Nuts, , Well Beer Nuts are about $3.99 a lbs and Deer Nuts are under a buck, , <|~_^|>……Dilly Dilly., , .p

Looks like a nice knife. thanks for taking your time to work with it for awhile to make the review. One question though, how difficult is it to sharpen the curved transision area near the handle with pocket stones? I've never had a gurkha styled blade and was wondering if that concave curve area was tuff to get back into shape in the field once dull.
