What is the best mosquito spray in 2023? Whether you live or are vacationing in the USA, the beaches of Mexico, or the jungles of Thailand, mosquitoes are not only annoying, but potentially deadly. Here is a well-researched review of the best mosquito repellant (a new derivative of the pepper plant), available in spray or lotion, which equals or out-performs DEET, but without the side effects and bad smell. This video also reviews other mosquito repellents (sprays and lotions) and offers advice on free things you can do to greatly reduce your risk of mosquito bites.

❓WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE MOSQUITO MAGNETS?❓
There are several scientific reasons why some people are more likely to be bit by mosquitoes. These are factors we can't change about ourselves (blood type, individual skin secretions).

One of the most important factors is the composition of our skin's microbiome - the collection of microorganisms that live on the skin's surface. Certain bacteria on the skin can produce odors that are attractive to mosquitoes, while others can produce repellent compounds.

Another factor is the type of chemical signals that our bodies produce: carbon dioxide, lactic acid, and other volatile organic compounds. Mosquitoes use these signals to locate potential hosts, and some of us naturally produce more of these compounds than others.

Blood type is also thought to play a role. Research suggests that people with type O blood are more attractive to mosquitoes than those with type A or B blood.

Other factors that can influence mosquito attraction: genetics, age, body temperature, and the types of bacteria and other microorganisms that are present on our skin.

Thanks Randy for the information. I would add that if you own a home with a yard in a mosquito area an effective treatment is a co2 trap which is a fan and a propane tank that mimics co2 body heat mosquitoes are atteacted get sucked in and die. These devices are often effective up to an acre around your home. Cheers! Allen

You make the best videos! I’m trying to talk my sister into retiring in Chiang Mai and she said…. ‘What about the mosquitoes!” I also loved your video about coming to the airport for the first time. Thank you for all of the practical and thoughtful video subjects.

I'd never heard of Picaridin or Permethrin before. Great info to keep in mind for future travels. Thanks!

Valuable information.
I'm one of those people who mosquitoes love, and their bites always make large, swollen, weepy, bumps that eventually break open and scab over like a third degree burn - an over the top allergic skin reaction with severe itchiness.
The spray for clothing is very welcome news as these blood suckers often bite right through warm weather clothing.
Scratching the bite only makes it worse and can cause an infection. Benadryl cream (not the ointment) will reduce the swelling and shorten the healing. Very warm water (hot, not scalding) streaming from the tap or shower over and on the bite will instantly begin to remove the itch. It's almost orgasmic relief - it only works on bites, so don't try it anywhere else!

Great video! Very informative. I have avoided DEET since it damaged my (expensive) down sleeping bag while on an adventurous vacation in Alaska with a friend years ago! In those years, DEET was cheap as the Army was dumping it on the civilian market after the Vietnam war! And to be honest, I've tried most all of the non-working products in the last years. Good to know newer products are now available. Thanks for posting!

Years ago, as a Derrickman, the Toolpusher on my rig mentioned consuming "distilled vinegar" as a mosquito repellant. Each day I would eat a salad with Italian dressing on it. That "6/12" or "Off" was useless when I sweat it off. Sweating the vinegar through my skin pores did more to repell the mosquitos than any other method known to me.

Randy thank you very much for the well produced video!🎉🙏 I haven't seen you for a long time since we met at your daughter's event in December at Chiang Mai. 🥳 You have a new subscriber! This was the first video of yours i have watched and came here after watching your daughters video about Thai taxes and seeing both your comments and she referenced your channel! I have a daughter that is a "mesquito magnet" and will be serving a mission for 18 months in Louisiana, so i am hopeful she can benefit from this information and enjoy here time there "bite" free. 🤞🙏. Much success to you and the channel! 🎉🧡

Yes, I one million percent agree in regards to DEET! I saw someone strip the paint from their sunglasses just by touching them!
