Love his Left Hand Voicings. Sure would be nice to see a transcription.

Al for sure was not reading the melody, and he did not know it by heart, since there are several tiny mistakes in the theme statement, not to say in the bridge. Nonetheless, the spirits of Bebop and of Bud Powell are all here, and Al Haig is for sure one of the exponents of this music. This was recorded 28 years after Bud Powell's classic 1949 Session; ie, 41 years ago!
