🎼 About the etude 🎼

In this etude we are using the Dorian scale, in order to build coordination & dynamic control with the right hand.

Musically speaking - the musical theme is based on a melody combined with a pedal tone (also called: "pedal note" or "pedal organ") - a single note which repeats itself after each melody note.

In order to create a clear musical separation between the melody and the pedal tone - we are learning to control the dynamics (volume level) of the different notes / fingers - accenting the melody, while playing the pedal tone softer.

The concept is explained thoroughly in the video, together with clear technical instructions for the right hand fingerings.

🎼 The Dorian Scale🎼

The Dorian scale is the 2nd mode of the major scale.

The formula of the Dorian scale is: 1 , 2 , b3 . 4 . 5 . 6 . b7

The Dorian scale is common among Celtic music, folk, blues and pop/rock songs. All songs which have the chord sequence Em | A (for example: "Venus", "Riders of the storm") as a main theme in the song, have a Dorian sound.

🎼 The Etude is good for:

- Right hand fingerpicking technique (follow the fingerings instructions)
- Dynamic control (different volume levels with different fingers)
- Vibrato technique (left hand) - explained in the video

Subscribed thank you, been playing nearly 20 years and only been focusing on theory the last 2 years, working on triads and trying to learn all chords in all keys, slowly getting there, thank you
