Despite the differences between the riddler here and his comic book counterpart, it’s not really him unless he’s shown to have a fragile ego while being prone to emotional breakdowns anytime he’s proven wrong. Paul dano nailed this perfectly in this scene.

For those who believe that Riddler knows Batman's Identity. You have to take in both Bruce Wayne and his background. Bruce being batman would mean that Riddler was beaten by a "Rich Jackass" who had life handed to him on a golden platter. He "Can't" believe that Bruce Wayne is Batman. It would shatter what little mental stability he has.

Anyone who thinks that Riddler is overacting here has never read a comic featuring The Riddler. Majority of Batman stories involving Riddler have Riddler thinking he's smarter than Batman only to always be thwarted, the idea that he isn't the smartest man in the room compared to Batman eats him up from the inside and that's exactly what this scene demonstrates.

Paul Dano was such perfect casting. He captures almost every angle of the character from his theatrics, intelligence and pure arrogance whilst giving him a darker edge that's perfect for a more modern Riddler.

Love this. Rather than it being a simple interrogation, it’s like a mirror to Bruce realizing what his actions have inspired. They made Riddler like a Moriarty figure and that’s exactly how he should be done in a modern context.

I love this origin of the riddler. i could buy that this would actually happen. imagine being a orphan and a guy donates a ton of money to help you. but All of the sudden that person dies. their child becomes a orphan and then in turn everyone forgets about you and starts focusing on that one kid. the corrupt steal all the money that was meant to help you. I would be pissed too.

Dano absolutely nailed the mental snap and fragile ego that Edward has when he's wrong all the way down to the tantrum throwing.

I just realized Riddler idolizing then hating Batman is literally what happened in Batman Forever too.

2:02 I love how you can hardly see his eyes from behind the reflecting light coming off of his glasses. Really gives the feeling that Riddler is something inhuman, uncaring and calculating. You can tell what he’s thinking, but you don’t know what he’s going to do next.

They did an amazing job at making the riddler seem absolutely insane, this is easily the best riddler

1:22 the way Robert utters "psychopath" with such anger and tone is such a nostalgic callback to Bale's Batman in TDKR.

This was honestly the best part of the movie for me. It constantly kept me engaged and what a performance by Paul Dano.
