the fact the drunk driver acted surprised that he has to sit in jail is damn shameful

“I’m here until Thursday” wtf do you think, buddy!?!? You killed 2 people! You took fathers away from their kids, husbands away from their wives! Sons away from their parents and hockey players from their fans! So YES YOU ARE STAYING FOR LIFE, FORGET THURSDAY!!!

The defendant's biggest concern was having to be in jail until Monday. Can you even believe?

This is not an accident, as some media have categorised it, drunk driving is never an accident, it’s intentional.

The driver, if he was legally intoxicated, needs to go to prison for life. This shit has to be dealt with super seriously. Enough of this crap. This type of thing is totally avoidable.

Two angels killed by the most the common meathead, typifying the American psyche, drunk malevolent road-rage criminality. Just a truly exceptionally gifted athlete with an angelic personality. Look at the picture of those two brothers, their eyes, the joy and humility.

Leafs fan here, this is absolutely shocking and devastating. He seemed like such a sweet person who always made time for his fans, especially all the kids. I feel for his family, their grief will be lifelong.

When are we going to talk about the elephant in the room - the unjust, inequitable and deeply systemic traffic violence that is killing over 100 Americans per day and affecting millions more. Stop talking about how sad this is and start demanding safer streets that puts humans first.

This is a quote from Johnny Gaudreau when he left the Calgary Flames to play for Columbus this just shows what kind of man he was:
" I hope the people of Calgary can remember me not only as a hockey player, but also as a Good Person with Good Values. Thank you for supporting me over the years, and for making my family a part of yours".
RIP Johnny Hockey, and Matthew Gaudreau. 31 years old and 29 years old.

The NHL isn’t the NFL.
Very true.
They play 80+ games. Sometimes, three in four nights.
They hit at 25+ mph.
Johnny Hockey was amongst the best. Person and player.
Another tragedy caused by pure, unmitigated, selfishness.

Stop with the thoughts and prayers people. Thoughts and prayers do NOTHING. You want to make the world better in tge wake of this senseless tragedy? Then pledge RIGHT NOW to NEVER drink and drive.

It is one of the worse news I have heard being part of hockey community all my life. It really felt unreal, he was such a loved guy. It's still hard to believe he is gone.

Thoughts and prayers with the family of the Gaudreau brothers. Losing one is awful but losing two is beyond horrific.
