Just shows what a top bloke he is, he could have gone to any top club he wanted and he’s staying loyal and trying to will leverkusen to trophies. Top manager

Why build a castle just to move out after finishing it?

Fair play, nice to see him being so level headed about it

He’s showing something that a lot of people in football today lack: humility, gratitude and loyalty

There never was a reason to leave Leverkusen so soon anyway. No pressure, no stress, no demands, no expectations. He took the job while they were in relegation battle and look at them now. At a much bigger club, the pressure, stress, demands and expectations would have been sky high and it would have been too much for him. Could lead Liverpool to 6th and then maybe 6th or 7th the following season and all of a sudden he's another Graham Potter. No point leaving while he's in the middle of something special. Maybe if he leaves in 2-3 years, that's another story. I personally hope he stays for at least another 3 years

He is a student of the game. Give him time. He made the best decision.

He don’t want to get that Nagelsmann treatment lol

I admire his humbleness and humility. There were a lot of young managers that rushed into big jobs too early and failed because of that. Alonso is very intelligent, but also very wise.

He has built a really good team and wants to see how far he can take them

Why would he leave? He will win a title and play in the champions league. He can shop for new players and if his team plays like this…leverkusen can play a big part in the champions league. He should stay 2-3 years there and then…take a break and wait for a new opportunity. There will always be a free spot

Would've loved him to come to Liverpool, but u have to totally respect him for this decision.
It's early days yet, but he could go on to be one of the top managers in the sport.
Good luck to him.

As much as it sucks man, i admire the guy greatly. He gets to improve again and he of all people will know second season will probably be even tougher.

Im sure he'll replace Ancelloti at Madrid, and those guys are cooking with some exciting talent.

Wise decision. He knew he would still be candidate the following season or after that. No rush in running into a Big club and not succeed.

Mad that they could win a treble this season. League is as good as done. Favorites for the DFB & in with a shout of the Europa league. Some season they are having. What a coach.

As a Liverpool fan I can accept he wants to stay with Leverkusen as he is breaking records with them I would not have understood him going to Bayern though

Why would he leave Leverkusen (a team he built & cherishes) ? They have yet to win Champions League or prove themselves there.
Going to Liverpool would be huge burden for him bcz of expectations he faces where they want him to fill Klopp's shoes & win from 1st second

Good call. Bayern will throw him under the bus if he doesn't get it right straight away as we've seen with Nagelsmann. Liverpool might show a bit more patience but ultimately being at a big club means more pressure and expectation. At Leverkusen he's not got to manage under that but still has the tools to compete against the big boys so to speak...
