Cindy Williams, Shirley on 'Laverne & Shirley' dies at 75

Cindy Williams, who played Shirley opposite Penny Marshall's Laverne on the popular sitcom "Laverne & Shirley," has died, her family said Monday.

Cindy was my Great Aunt.

Only met her once at my sister’s wedding. I was only 15 at the time but I remember at seven yrs old my grandpa would always talk about his little sister to us and bring a whole collection of her tv shows on family trips just to brag about his little sister.
At my sister’s wedding, i felt this gentle yet firm hand grab me and turn me around and say “Hey! I’m related to you! I must be your aunt!“ she had this big smile crossing her face looking right at me. “I know a Gaines when I see one! When I saw you walking, I said to my daughter I don’t know that boy but I know I’m related to him!”

I remember many times walking through my neighborhood on a humid summer night////back then a lot of people kept their windows open to stay cool and you could hear the theme songs for this show and Happy Days////just about every house I walked by you could hear the music for these TV shows❗ It's amazing the difference between the shows in the mid-70s and what's on TV today ❗🥺😔

You were one of my favorite actresses during my growing up. As Ron Howard's girlfriend on Happy Days and American Graffiti, to Laverne and Shirley as Shirley. I admired your characters.
As an adult I admired your acting ability to play those characters and so many more.

You were an actress and a person who was truly loved by so many.
I will always cherish you and your acting, Shirl.
You may not have realized how many people you impacted through your craft. You will be missed.
