I wonder why GM didn't choose the VT-VS Holden Commodore instead of the Opel Omega for the Catera? It was widened, had a V8 engine, had proven US mechanicals, and came with a long-wheelbase version (Statesman/Caprice). Admittedly the interior wasn't as nice as the Omega but still...

I still do drive the original car, the Opel Omega B facelift model year 2000, today! It's a 2.2 16V with 144bhp manual and still keeps running strong.

I remember when they debuted, thinking it had so much promise. I do think they had the right idea, but it needed more development

I think I've only seen one of these in my whole life. They're super rare

The 2nd time Cadillac recognized they're selling a garbage lineup, but came up with the poor solution.

I bought a used 1998 Catera in 2013 for $1, 000 with about 70k miles.
It lasted for about 2 years until the engine started overheating due to coolant leaking so I constantly had to refill it, but it would only last for a short while before you have to refill it again, so driving it more than 30 minutes was dangerous. The engine eventually overheated and stopped working.

Still with American bumper guards! Probably not there best.. still the GM executives were cheap, even my friends cts first gen.. interior was garbage. Not even on par with German luxury cars.. at least when it was trickling down they didn't cheap out. Yeah BMW 3 series from the 80s dashboard are all cracked up! Great retro video anyways!

So much possibility. So much disappointment. This is what cadillac needed in 1992, not 1997.
