Iirc Fuze was based off of the Moscow theater hostage situation in 2002 which ended in tragedy. The Russian forces decided to pump some sort of gas into the building to knock out everyone inside. The problem was that the gas was supposed to be used in exteriors, and the high concentration in an enclosed space ended up killing 130 hostages. That's where the inspiration from Fuze's gadget being more harmful than useful in a hostage situation comes from.

a better lore for castle could be that at a young age his home was broken into as a robbery gone wrong which resulted in the death of his parents (and any brothers or sisters he may have, Idk for sure tho I haven't read his lore). After the robbery he spent many years developing his signature barricades.
