Good afternoon. Thank you for the video. I have the same deck. Recently, the engine began to start only after spinning up manually. Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you. I wrote through a translator.
For those who are interested, I am writing an addition. Today is July 22nd. I didn’t turn to the experts, but repaired it myself. After looking at other repair channels, I realized that I had a problem with the engine. Thanks to this video, I disassembled the engine, cleaned it of carbon deposits, and lubricated the bushings. The wear on the motor contacts is deep. But I think it will last for a long time. I often don't listen to him. Then I lubricated the bushings on the flywheel axle. And my device works!

This reminds of my first deck, a pioneer CTF-500 purchased new in '79. Had that for a year then I bought a technics RSM 45, full logic control, nice deck. Unfortunately, a flood took it out last year 😪. Great work as usual Trevor 👍

Geez! The Pioneer CT-F950 mechanism is a dream to take apart compared to this JVC mechanism. Nice work man!

I guess new plastic wheels could be 3D-printed if you could get the design software. The playback head certainly needed replacing. You did a great job dismantling and cleaning the rubber wheels

Nice job Trevor. I work at restoring old cassette decks too and I have a KD-10 to get to at some point. I had not heard of "boiling" belts before. How hot was your microwave and how long did you leave the belt in there? Also, what was the brand and type of the grease in the syringe?

Hey Trevor. Like your work. What should we look for if the deck eats the tape? Tried cleaning the head and rollers.

Baking soda and crazy glue. Cures instantly. Sand of file it.

I would certainly try to weld that cracked plastic with either epoxy or something like chloroform to melt the plastic a bit to bond it.

I like that trick of cleaning the flywheel, should try it on my luxman deck

I have the JVC KD-10, and I boiled the belt and got it back on but after reassembling the whole unit now my levels are peaking and I’m getting some kind of helicopter noise. I think it’s related to the record feature, can you help?
