NOTE FOR FUTURE STUDENTS, when I downloaded and configured mySql, the port on which my DB was setup was not 3301 (app.properties text from website), so make sure your connection string is accurate

Those who's site is not styled when using Intelij, you need to manually copy and paste the html code yourself because it changes it when you drag it in

Make sure to change port, in the video he puts 3301 but by default it's 3306. otherwise you may face problem connection to DB and you might get an error like this :

about 3301 port error hikaripool, I tried edit my.ini and edit port on workbench all didn't work. I just removed and reinstalled mysql and set the port to 3301 while installing. and it worked.

If anyone is having an error along the lines of “port 8080 is currently in use” go ahead and terminate the port via CMD and you should be able to run the application
