Показать описание
Prince's 8th album Parade, was his second attempt at pairing an album of new music with a major Hollywood motion picture - this time, the movie was Under The Cherry Moon. Although the film wasn't a box office smash, the soundtrack remains an iconic record in Prince's catalog, incorporating jazz, instrumentals, and orchestral arrangements into his sound for the first time. Join us, and behold Christopher Tracy's Parade with more Purple Facts!

(POST UPLOAD - DISCLAIMER - It appears the picture of Mary Lambert in this video is not the director, but another lady with the same name who has also worked with Madonna. Our bad, and no offence was intended to either of them. Oops!)

I worked with Prince as an Engineer on Musicology. "The Marrying Kind", "If Eye Was the Man in Ur Life", and "On the Couch" were all written and recorded as one song, He only broke them into 3 songs for the album. Similar to the Opening songs on Under the Cherry Moon.

No favourite song, the album as a whole is a work-of-art

Wendy said that everybody in the Revolution began to feel something was up when Prince started expanding the band. Because in addition to Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, Prince also brought in Miko Weaver on guitar and former Time Member Jerome Benton and Wally Safford and Greg Brooks who became show makers and background singers. In addition Bobby Z heard rumors that Sheila E. was going to be taking his place as drummer and that former members of The Family would also be brought in.

What Prince was doing was to road test what would eventually became the first line up of the NPG. So after the final show of the "Parade" tour where he smashed his famous white Cloud guitar during "Purple Rain" everybody in the Revolution knew that the gig was up.

So that very first NPG line up was Prince, Sheila E., Miko, Atlanta, Eric, Jerome, Wally and Greg, supplemented by Levy Cesar Jr on bass, Boney Boyer on keyboard, Kat Glover as background singer and the only remaining revolutionary: Dr. Fink on keys. That band backed him during the "Sign O' the times", "Lovesexy" and "Nude" tours. But it was during the "LoveSexy" tour that the band began to brandish NPG logos over their costumes and on the stage set.

In recent interviews BrownMark has revealed that Prince wanted him to be part of the NPG together with Dr. Fink because of having familiar faces on stage. Mark declined.

These days Dr. Fink wears his NPG era Scrubs on stage, as a showcase that he was in both Prince's best known bands.

Jerome Benton says the color version of UTCM is in the vault somewhere, & he hopes we see..

He said the colors are very vibrant & alive, & he was really shocked when Prince changed the format to b&w, & him among others didn't want Prince to do it..

I hope to see it in color someday, with outtakes..

Hope to hear the 1982 version of "New Position" as well...

‘All My Dreams’ is one of my favorite Prince songs of all time. In fact, a lot of his unreleased stuff is amongst my favorite.

The three tracks from PARADE that still stand out to me are “Mountains” and “Sometimes It Snows In April” and the 12 inch version of “Anotherloverholeinyohead”. Timeless songs.

My favorite song from this album is "I Wonder U". And yes, the movie should've been more successful here in the U.S. 👍

Prince had just released Around The World In A Day then in that same month of April 1985 he ended up doing all of that for Parade album. Genius and workaholic.

The only song that stuck in my head was "Sometimes It Snows In April", That song was special and has always stayed with me,
After buying Parade from the wrecka stow, I nearly wore that track down from playing it so much.... that's why I finally bought the CD.

I was fortinute enough to see his last concert in ATL. He passed that night on his way home and was revived. He then died one week later. That year, It Snowed in April, as the show was 4/21/16.

“Girls and Boys” was always my favourite song from Parade, but since the tragic year of 2016, I now find myself mainly listening to “Sometimes it Snows in April” ....and shedding a tear each time I do! 💜

Damn! - I always wanted Christopher Tracey to not die!!!! - And now I hear Prince didn't want his character to live. AMAZING that Anotherloverholeinyohead was recorded last as it is such a favourite! ... I love: Sometimes It Snows In April, Anotherloverholeinyohead, Life Can Be So Nice, Mountains and Girls And Boys ... Love Or Money is HUIGE for me and always has been since 1986, even though it's a B-Side.
