A talk with Eric Broug about his new book; Architecture of the Muslim world Untitled video

Показать описание
Eric Broug is writing a new illustrated book for his publisher Thames & Hudson. He’s got 10 months to go to his deadline, in this informal chat, he will give an update how work is progressing, what the book is about, what the challenges are.
Eric says: I am blessed to have been asked to write this large book on architecture from the Muslim world. Most of the general books on Islamic art and architecture are 70% art and 30% architecture and only cover the Middle East, North Africa, Iran, Central and South Asia, and Andalucia. This has always seemed wrong to me. What about sub-Saharan Africa, South-East Asia, Horn of Africa, America, Russia, China etc etc? And why should it stop with the Ottomans and Qajars? This book will be global in its scope, written for architects and designers.
Eric Broug is an author/educator/artist, specialised in Islamic geometric design. He has an MA degree in the History of Islamic art and architecture from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. He is the author of Islamic Geometric Patterns and has been active in Islamic geometric design for over 25 years and is passionate about the creative and educational opportunities this design tradition offers to a wide range of audiences. He is currently writing a book on architecture of the Muslim world and opened a shop in Yorkshire in October 2020, selling homeware and gifts from the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere.
