The KTM 125 Duke is finally on sale in India! Finally? The 125 Duke has been in production at Bajaj's Chakan plant from the very beginning. But KTM India considered the bike too expensive for India. But now that the prices of the KTM 200 Duke have risen to Rs 1.5 lakh ex-showroom, there is a chance for the kids to convince their parents for a properly fast, sport 125cc motorcycle. So the styling package is the old one but with new stickers, you get the same excellent chassis as the old series Dukes did and that's a superb package for a new rider to hone their skills on. It is expensive at Rs 1.18 lakh ex-Delhi, but KTM has added a single-channel ABS system that works on the front wheel. The 14.5PS engine does mean that the KTM 125 Duke is far calmer than the frenetic 200 and the completely bonkers 390 but the responsive chassis and a calm engine should mean that new riders can get on the bike and truly go. It's a package that did power KTM to the top slot in Europe not so many years ago!

Wait a minute. So the On road price difference between duke 125 and 200 is 50k??
And we get nothing special, maybe 200 duke has dual channel ABS instead of single channel on 125. What else?
A higher cc and 50k difference is outright obnoxious.

For example there’s a 50k difference between RE 350 and RE 500
But you get fuel injection from Keihin in 500. A high quality Denso starter motor on 500, plus all the improved wiring and other bits.
KTM proudly promoting that their 125 shares everything with 200 is a stupid marketing strategy; just like Dominar’s idiotic marketing. It just makes the 200 users feel like idiots who bought an overpriced but still an awesome machine.

I think it's a trick KTM had pulled for Indians.
Humour for a bit, if KTM 125 costs at 1.18 considering manufacturing cost and profit and if it shares most of the components with KTM (apart from bigger bored of engine which is again the same one) then it should mean that KTM 200 is absurdly costly bike.
That means we were fooled earlier with KTM 200 Duke as mechanical components costs doesn't increase so linearly as to cubic capacity of bike.
And now KTM expects that Indians should accept this over KTM 125 because it's cheaper than played KTM. I hope i was so dumb as you expect to be.
And what was the actual strategy launching in 200 and 390 whereas same 125 has been in production in the very same country (India) but not sell in it.
Its just bloody business decision and nothing more. A justification they came up was that they think india was not ready for such premium 125cc bike. Then what made think that in such country a 390 and 200 will sell which costs at least 1.7 or 2.1 times of 125cc bike.

I took my ntorq 125 to 106 kmph, thats my top speed of a cvt 9.5 hp scooter ! Its funny isn't it ?

KTM paid every auto journalist for a nice review ... seriously, who will consider this over a cheaper 150cc -200cc bike which are way better overall...

This bike will surely increase the number of squids on the road
