I've never seen so much hype over filters until the advent of YT. Most of it absolutely nonsensical parameters and specs. People should realize that the Fram orange cans and their generic equivalents protect roughly 70% of all cars on the road today. Between myself and the other owner of our machine/speed shop, we have 70 years of building/rebuilding/repairing all sorts of engines. We could only think of maybe a couple of times we could PROVE a filter was responsible for damage to a block. We have seen cross threading, double gasketing and just the wrong filter installed but never has someone given us a lump saying that the filter did it. I've seen the aforementioned "Orange Cans of Death" on $300k Ferrari engines(the owner does his own changes ever 1000 miles) and they are fine. Use the OEM filter for whatever you have if you have any doubt. Nothing at all wrong with Fram. The cheap ones are made out of less expensive materials so(wait for it) they can SELL them at $4 and still turn a profit. The only thing a more expensive filter can offer is possibly more capacity but if you're doing 3-5k mi OCI's...virtually anything will work. Unless you're living in a very dirty/dusty area, just stick to OEM and stop watching people cutting open cans proclaiming things they no little about.

"The other filter that comes to mind is the Purolator." The MO-339 is made by Purolator for FCA Mopar. Compare it to the equivalent Purolator Red L12222 and you'll see how similar they are, excluding can paint.

From what I understand those (black) Mopar filters are made by purolator. They used to be made by fram but not last I heard. Thats why the quality of build reminded you of purolator. I would be curious to see if you compared the part numbers on that seal from inside the filter to the purolator filter to see if they're the same ;)

Funny you mention Purolator. Apparently that's who makes these filters.

Started getting low oil pressure at 1st cold startup, for a few seconds. No codes, or knocking. Oil change performed at RAM dealership. 2017 RAM 2500 6.4.

That is the one im using in my dodge. You can't go wrong with genuine oem parts. The oil change intervals for this 2.4l engine are duty based with the oil life monitor, not to exceed 8k miles conventional oil, or synthetic if you want to. At Walmart where I got mine, the frame and super tech are cheaper, the mobil 1 and kn are at or a few dollars more, but the fact that it is OEM makes me buy it. And yes, it IS just under $10 at Walmart.
