See, my friends and i have a policy for this:
We keep our items separate unless it is for a mutual job of building or a friend needs materials and asks for them. If someone finds a material, it is theirs to use unless they are ok sharing when/if one of us needs it. Like stone, we keep our own unless someone else needs it to finish something. Diamonds on the other hand, those stay the finder's unless there is an agreement between players that the stuff is split between them in a mining trip. And if anyone takes stuff from a chest without asking, they are kicked from the server unless they didnt realize the chest belonged to someone
