Understanding China's socialism: Book launch event for John Ross 'China's Great Road'

Please join us in conversation to celebrate the launch of China’s Great Road; Lessons for Marxist Theory and Socialist Practices by author and economist John Ross.

China’s Great Road features ten articles by Ross published between the years 2010 and 2021, all of which provide a clear analysis of China’s economic and foreign relations policies over the past decades. More importantly, Ross’ writing cuts through Western propaganda and directly addresses China’s socialist project, its history and growth, and what could be possible for future socialist countries around the world.

The launch is being jointly organised by the Morning Star, Tricontinental Institute, Geopolitical Economy Research Group, Learning from China, and Friends of Socialist China.

Could China achieved this without the gutting of manufacturing in the U.S. and Britain? China used the billions pumped into their country wisely, the belt and road is incredible, meanwhile the U.S. infrastructure is crumbling due to greedy capitalism and more people are living in poverty.

Absolutely wonderful in its purpose, mission and application.I could get to have a clearer understanding of the strengths of the socialist system and how to understand or see it critically beyond propaganda.I'm sure the book would go a long way further and reach a wider audience to get to truth from facts as the author so rightly emphasises. However, something on Chinese Internationalism or the possible lack of active intervention on the part of China in the Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, Libya etc would have helped unless that is not part of the discussed book.All the speakers were excellent and thank you for all of that. ❤️From India

Brilliant discussion and great kudos to John for his many years of work on this subject.
One small but important point: is there a way to provide us with a less expensive electronic version of the book? For those of us living in the global South (I am in Brazil) it will take weeks and cost us over $50 to buy and get the paperback delivered. Whereas an electronic version can arrive in less than a minute without delivery charges.
