Which Manticore Targets Should You Dig? and Which Ones to Avoid.

I get a lot of question about the Manticore and the type of signals you should dig and the type of signals you shouldn't dig. A simple answer is, "When in doubt, dig it out!" However, for most metal detectors, digging everything is huge waste of time and energy. In this video, I'll show you some of the techniques I used to check a signal to determine whether to dig the target or not. This video was done on a real hunt at a very trashy house site so this is a real world scenario with real digging examples. Nothing fake here. Enjoy.

I just ordered a Manticore and started watching all your stuff. Never touched a detector before. Hyped.

Have a CTX, Nox 800 & a Manticore is on its way. It's a real help to hear your thought processes as you get the data from the Manticore. Easy to relate to and well presented. Thank you, I've just subscribed.

I've often thought someone (Minelab should) create a somewhat lengthy educational video showing only the sweep, screen, audio, depth, and the find of many targets. This video would not show the digging or any discussion other than to identify the kind of terrain. The idea being to show for instance; 100 targets dug and the info from the detector leading to why each was dug. You did a nice job in explaining, including why you thought something was trash and then dug it to show that was what it was; great education for the viewer. I live in a colonial area and I do collect ancient nails, finding a nice handmade 300 year old Rose head makes for a good day hunting, but knowing how to ID a nail is just as valuable to finding a coin as most want to avoid the nail and some are happy to know a nail is what a target likely is.

I love mine. It is doing a great job at helping me make the dig or no dig decision. I use all metal as well. Great video.

I love my Manticore, just got the M8 coil and it has been a game changer in some of my old trashy local parks.

I found a cashew once with my old Whites XLT I never did find the jar but in a small area I pulled out about 26 coins dating from 1880 to 1930 Whites sure made some great machines.Good luck Scott and thanks for the video.

I didnt learn much, probably the adahd. But what i have picked up on, is get out there and use it, try all the settings, swap your coils and run it again. Trial and error is a huge.
You can watch all yhe videos you want, its not going to make you a pro.
You gotta get out there and get it!
Also RTFD, you will learn a lot about your machine....
Thank you for the vid man! I cant wait to get some swing time on mine! 🤙🏻

Other metal by the target seems to change the vdi and tone on many targets, the 2d screen helps but I think I need to dig a higher percentage of targets. The only thing not affected seems to be pull tabs. They always sound great.

The image is just another tool in the pouch, not to be considered by itself. I’m learning from your videos, settings, etc. thanks!

It acts very much like my F75 Fisher. You either loved them or hated them. I still love mine though I own both a Legend and the Manticore. My point to be made here is a technique we used on the F75 to help determine iron false vs good target. Bob the coil up and down over the target as you would if ground balancing. If false you'll get an iron tone. If good it'll ring out. Works well.

Great info! I’ve been learning a lot from your channel. Just posted a Manticore video where I found silver with a big nail showing how it sounded. Your vids helped me with what to expect!

In the 92-95 squeaker signal, I didn't hear the buzzing from the horseshoe to indicate iron, but you still got a nail. Around 23:12 . Thing is that as you pointed out, squeakers like that could also be deep coins. But my point is that the machine was not quite identifying the nail in the hole.

Hi on the coin mode you did last fall is it possible to add in rings and gold on the manticore

At 25:39 looks like a brass hames off of a horse or ox halter.

I was expecting you to dig those signals that you considered were not diggable for demonstration purposes. That would've been useful.

Scott what was you using on sound, simple, medium or rich?

I found that using the stabilizer lost depth, but I had the filter off. What's your experience with this?

I have a question. What sensitivity you use in the field?
