Railcart ride through Tecate, Mexico

Myself and Archie took his railcart down to Tecate, Mexico again. This time we were immediately stopped at gunpoint by Mexican Military as we started to setup the cart. It was actually pretty scary. They told us that we cannot be there but after about a 15 minute conversation and a $50 "propina" we were allowed to continue.

I livestreamed the journey in to town so I only have a few clips of that part. We turned around in town after 6 miles near the Tecate Brewery and headed back. The tracks beyond the Brewery have a ton of road crossings and the area is very busy. Also the railroad still uses the tracks between the Brewery and Tijuana. We didn't want to press our luck.

I'm glad this video appeared randomly on my feed. I live in Tecate and had no idea about some of these places.

A "no problema propina" as we used to say down in the Baja. I said that in a police station down Baja way after being shaken down for an hour for a bogus traffic violation and the drunk cops laughed their fat asses off and told me to get the F' out of there before they charge me another hundred bucks for bad poetry. The entire country is as crooked as a barrel of fishhooks.

Looks very beautiful! Rooster almost got to test out a scene from Wile E Coyote lol And looks a bit unnerving when you can't see the track through the thick vegetation.

Ryan, you’ve got me inspired… I live in Ecuador in South America, and they recently shut down all of the train tracks because of landslides. Let me know if you wanna visit… 😊

You could make some good money hooking up a couple of trailers on that thing and charging migrants for the last 20 miles of their run for the border.

This seems like an awesome hobby to get into. Is there any resources on what abandoned rails are travelable in the US?

Presumably you need to recce the track beforehand to see where the turnouts are, and if you need to pick up the cart to pass them?

I was happy when the train horn broke! Had to watch muted - as he likes to use that horn a bit *too* much. Cool video though!

I am surprised you didn't get hit, by vehicles at the road crossings!
