Oddly, perhaps one of those $60 hot-air rework stations might be good for heating up cases. You can select the temperature up to 900F, --up to 600 watts. Thye come with different sized nozziels to put heat right where you want it. I got one for pulling electonic parts and shrinking tubing, but I heat-welded a broken ungluable polypropylene parts organizer back together with it, already. I got one with an extra element.

The original seal might have been better. It was brown and likely Viton.
