I just love Kaladin and Syl so much....I don't want to lose either one of them.

Kaladin as a Shard would be both amazing and terrifying. We’ve seen what happens when good and kind men have to deal with literally divine levels of single-mindedness. What will happen when Kaladin decides that he *must* protect the entire world-or the entire cosmere?

On Kaladin's feat deflecting the storm not being repeated, he repeats and exceeds it in the next book - when he swears the Fourth Ideal in RoW and saves Lirin he commands thousands of windspren to break the storm.

On the one hand, Cultivation "cultivating" replacement vessels for the shards with Taravangian, Dalinar, and Lift makes so much sense. On the other hand, Kaladin's arc is much more tied to Honor than Dalinar that Kaladin is a better fit for the shard. And Dalinar's "unite them" feels like he's supposed to reforge Adonalsium. Anything else just feels too small.

A counter to the Syl theory, even after what happened to her in WoR 4:09, Kaladin was referred to as a child of Tanavast. I personally suspect the title either has something to do with qualities of character, like Kaladin has the closest personality to Tanavast before his ascension, or there is something special about him in some other way, Idk, its one of my biggest questions that is very likely answered in LESS THAN A YEAR. Im so stoked to read it. And also that whole thing with the spear is pretty damning, specifically the death rattle.

I did a character only read through of the 4 books of Stormlight. It was incredible. you end up reading a bunch of chapters over several times but reading kaladin only all the way through was incredible.

I don't see any other fate for Kaladin than to take up Honor. With Kaladin's depression and suicidal tendencies, a self-sacrifice just FEELS wrong, even a little crass. And, with his newfound purpose of protecting through mental health... who better than Kaladin to take up the Shard that could help the Radiants work through their problems?

Oh gods... it makes so much sense!
Although I would love to see Kaladin remain human and live the rest of his life in peace. Him becoming Honor feels like damning him to an eternity of struggle with his depression
Let the poor man rest 😢💙

I’ve always thought of it as simply an honorific given him by the Stormfather because they can feel how deeply Kaladin embodies Honor and the Tanavast interpretation of it

The stormlight books are some of my favourites, but are tricky to understand EVERYTHING thats goes on. Your videos are a massive help. Thanks mate🎉

My pet theory is that upon swearing the 5th ideal syl and Kaladin merge and take up honors shard as Dalinar reforges it.

Have you noticed that Kaladin rides the storm multiple times, in book 1 when he has not even become radiant!
It is so strange that Stormfather allows it.
It took Dalinar becoming his bondsmith and taking the third oath to manage it in book 4!
But Kaladin has done it multiple times!

I just caught up with the pod, and then this drops.

The king of cosmere content is back.

Looking forward to the rest of the journey with your cremling self and Himmy Stormblessed.

As well as your lore videos as always. Your type of theory crafting just hits with the way I think too.

*Spoiler alert. Within the sample chapter of Stormlight 5, Hoid hands Kaladin a flute and tells him that Kaladin must learn to play the flute without playing it! I was totally confused by this statement until I remembered this death rattle by Cenn. He sees a vision:
"He watches! The black piper in the night. He holds us in his palm... playing a tune that no man can hear!" This isn't a reference to Hoid in the Coppermind so who could this be, Kaladin post ascension of some sort?
