I found out when I was 7. It broke my heart for about 45 min. I cried alone in my room for a while, and then my dad came in. He said something along these lines.

“I chose you. All of my other kids, they came into my life because I created them. You? I saw you and you were so beautiful and so good, that I knew I just had to be your daddy.”

And just like that, everything was okay.

If we ignore that this is a show and what happens in it, I just want to say blood or not, the people who raise you and help you are your family.

I’m adopted and was chosen. Adoption is being chosen. Being a loving mother and father for their child, their whole life is being a parent for your child. Having a baby is not what makes you a mom and dad, it’s the time you spend caring for, loving, teaching, building a relationship with that makes you a true parent for their child. My mom has said, one grew under my heart, (my sister whom my parents had after adopting me), and one grew in my heart! ❤️

I’m paraphrasing here, but what I loved from what Kayce said to Jamie went along the lines of;
“How about you call me brother and nothing else.”
Because Jamie was unsure what to call him.

We have two adopted cousins and both of them got left by their biological mothers. We're already a huge family so my aunt and uncle figured it wouldn't make a difference to add two more anyways. Family is not just blood.

My mom was adopted. She had her natural mother and my pop who adopted her. He was the best father ever. I know it always hurt her though that her Bio Dad went in to have 7 more children with the same woman and had a happy marriage for 50 some odd years. She tried only after my Pop passed away too reach out to her half siblings. They were not accepting at all. They knew of her and kept promising photos and other things and never sent anything. When my mom would inquire they told her she was pushy and intrusive. She was devastated to know he loved them all and left her behind. Never did she meet one sibling. It always hurt me for her. 😢 She was the winner in the end having my Pop. He loved her so much. She had a beautiful life and never wanted for anything. ❤🙏

I'm adopted and got treated like kin, except by my mom's husband. My mother showed no difference between her naturally born kids and me, but my father did. He never wanted her to tell me I was adopted, either. The reason is because he knew he could not fake it if I knew. Here is the thing though, now that I am older, I totally get it. No hard feelings at all, and gratitude and love for providing for me before he divorced my mom. I have not heard from him now in 20 years. He does call my sisters, though.

Sad way to find out, what a blow to Jamie coming from someone else. No doubt he was loved by both his adoptive parents and yes they are his family. Sadly, he lost the only mother he ever knew too.

I don’t like the phrase “your mother never got the chance to love you, you 3 months old when she was beat to death” i can GUARANTEE she loved him. I loved my daughter since the moment I found out I was pregnant. And there’s no way to describe the amount of love when you’re looking that newborn in the eyes. So I do believe she loved him

I always love to remind my sister when she says she feels like she was adopted, that it's not possible because no one would've picked her.
