Was the Emperor even mad about the missing plate?

What strikes me is that the samurai are often scumbags in thiese tales, and justice seldom catch up to them.
A reflection of reality?

One of the things I love about Japanese ghosts is despite being so terrifying, they’re ridiculously easy to get rid of. Ringu would’ve been a much shorter movie is all you had to do was finish counting for the girl.

Okiku's ghost counts plate in the well. When people hear you count the last nine pieces, you die of a curse. The story that if Okiku counts the last nine plate, people will die of a curse
Okiku's ghost was a beautiful woman. So every night a young man gathered to see her, and ran away before hearing “ 9th plate“.
One day, a man was late to run away. Then, "10th plate, ... 11th plate...". The man asked Okiku. "Why ? ".
"Because I caught a cold, I'll rest tomorrow, " okiku's ghost said

Damn that's really sad. A interesting story. You should be a history teacher, I bet students would learn alot with you and actually retain the information! Love your style!
