I am an Indian and I heard Rishi in one of the debates. Yes, he is very articulate and calculated with what he is proposing, maybe even very logical. But here's the problem. He came across as a "not connected to the masses" leader. Leading a nation is not all about science, math, or even economic theories. What is your pitch to a nation is looking for succor from a debilitating pandemic? The fact that a brown man came even this far speaks volumes about the democratic setup in the current United Kingdom. This is a learning curve for rishi.

Absolutely nothing to do with him being "too brown". He's just out of touch with the everyday citizen. Congratulations to him making his money, living in a fancy house and building a pool. He worked for it and earned it. But he has no idea how the "other side" live and has the cheek to call himself the "underdog".

My own opinion is this isn't about race, at least not how I see it. Initially, I liked Rishi, but as time has gone on and we see more of his personality, I think it is a carefully crafted one, and every now and then, he does something more to reveal this. That being said, I don't like Truss either and all the photo-op posturing she does or not answering questions - we had enough of that with Boris.

There has already been an Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) with Indian heritage, Leo Varadkar, so the UK is probably open to it.
The only difference is that Ireland might feel extra affinity towards India because both were British colonies (although Ireland has yet to obtain full Independence for all provinces). But if it can happen in Ireland it can happen in the UK.

We need someone who understands how normal ordinary people live . He raises tax for working class people whilst he benefits from his wife’s non dom status . He also said he doesn’t have working class friend and he wants to direct money away poor areas to fund rich area. His true colours came out when he was recorded saying all this . I am brown also and I can say, at least from my viewpoint, it has little to do with race.
It has more to do with him coming across as insincere and out of touch with the average person’s plight. He also comes across as a very disloyal person who only serves his own agenda. He fooled nobody by pretending to care for Britain in his betrayal of Boris (according to him at the cost of his own career) only to come out with a very polished, well prepared video (obviously taken some time ago) announcing his intentions to run for PM.
