I’m also a huge fan of abstracts.

Gipf series is all really good, and games by Dieter Stein deserve a lot more attention, too—they are on par with the Gipf series. Fendo, Tintas, Urbino… outstanding abstract strategy with beautiful wooden components to boot.

Hive continues to be a favorite, especially with the expansion pieces. Opens the game up a ton.

Home Worlds is an odd one that is super thinky with a light rule set.

Shobu, Tak, Santorini… the list can go on.

My number 1 abstract game is Santorini.

Yinsh is a very strong choice - I can never work out if it or Tzaar is my favourite.
For games that are a bit simpler and more approachable for people put off games that look too similar to chess, Great Plains and Donuts are fun options.
