Man, my hats off to you. You’re a true owner operator, you’re out there in the truck stop parking lot working on your truck. 90% of these YouTube so called owner operators that went out and bought their own truck, would be in a hotel crying, with an 5k bill. I just have a lot of respect for the true owner operators.

You're so calm in these situations. I lose my temper when this stuff happens on the road. You definitely show that even bad trucking days arent the end of the world👍

I was driving along last week heard the turbo spool up and pop, no boost at all. Lumped off the highway, I knew my waste gate was rotted out so assumed it must be that. Turned out one of the clamps that holds the 2 parts of the turbo broke on the backside where I couldn't see causing all the boost to be lost. Long story, I seized the turbo limping the truck around and dropped in a new one. Glad it happened because the truck pulls way better and mpg is up. Check your clamps

I had an issue with my Classic years ago, under heavy throttle I'd hear a loud pop and I'd lose power. Light throttle, no issues. I changed injectors, injector harness, filters etc. Turned out my air breather filter was collapsing.

Loves is such a pos for service on anything.

They purposly have 1 mechanic at MANY locations to cut costs.

They don't actually care about keeping anybody on the road. If they did, at least 1 mechanic would be at every bay.
And they wouldnt have mechanics doing janitor jobs.

Loves corporate priority is making the mechanics take out the trash before any truck related work to be done.

If your truck is in the middle of being worked on they will drop what they are doing to go clean restrooms, empty cans in fuel islands etc because thats included in their job requirements.

Your issue with not building boost can also be caused by the wastegate valve failing.
The vacuum plunger has an internal crack leaking boost past the wastegate.

When this happends the leaver will open the flap inside the exhaust and dump the exhast out but not spin the turbo up.

The more you keep driving the truck the more the boost pressure will start to drop if it gets bad enough.

The turbo is mechanical, not a cvt.
So if your hoses are good, you have a new intercooler, but still not building boost.

Your turbo wastegate is not staying shut and its dumping all the pressure out.

Like you said in beginning video, turbo is not spinning up all the way.

Wastegate valves tend to fail.
To verify and check this.
Have soneone rev rpms up while your looking at the wastegate leaver,
See if it moves.
If it does not,

Wear some thick gloves, pull leaver up or down to close wastegate door. Have somebody rev rpms up, if you hear turbo spinning then you know its a failing wastegate.

Run in the sun to save for the rain.

Don’t get discouraged this is the game we play with old trucks. If you ever have a breakdown like this out on the road always limp it back home before trying to fix it. If I’m under a load I get the cheapest tow truck I can find to deliver the load and take me home. Live and learn.

If you’re running eLogs on that old Classic get that engine fixed man. Paper logs have given me so many opportunities it’s unreal and I sleep at night like a normal person even if the shipper is being a total aas and holds me hostage for 10 hours. You’ll also increase the resale value 3x.

I got a 99 volvo with a detroit 60. It's pretty rough, right now. But I'm gonna throw as much $ as it takes to make her decent looking and a revenue producing machine. I appreciate sharing what you're learning about keeping these old engines in tip top shape. So what was the problem. She just wasn't making the kind of power she should? I'm having that problem with mine. It's supposed to be 500 hp, but definitely doesn't feel like it.

Try clamping your waste gate line to see if it's bad

Don't worry problems happen even on newer trucks. Just diferents problems.

Sent you a message on messenger but at any rate you can try replacing just the o-ring that seals the boost sensor to the intake manifold. They go bad over time and it will lose the seal causing a no boost condition
