The pixels are just turning off because they are too hot. When they cool off they turn back on. This isn’t at all a new or uncommon thing. It just only works with certain panel types. It’s very likely the screen did not fully return back to normal after though. Some panels do, some don’t, some won’t recover at all.

As a samsung retailer's daughter, (I am not aged enough though) you should never do that because It could seriously damage that device (or any device you do that with) through time as the screen of that device will start to glitch and do things you didn't expect and may even explode if not taken enough care. It will leave a scar on the screen whether it is 3 secs, 3 mins or 3 hours.
