Can You Cut A 2X4 With A Dremel Rotary Tool?

Today, I wanted to see if I was able to cut a piece of 2x4 construction lumber with a Dremel 4000. It actually went surprisingly well, even if it is not the most efficient way of cutting a 2x4.

This can most likely be done by most of the more powerful Dremel models like the Dremel 3000, 4300, 8220, 8260, and so on.

I think I am going to continue doing these weird challenges with the Dremel!

Thank you man. I don't think this is stupid because it shows one of the extreme ways that one can successfully use a dremel. It is such a wonderful tool.

Thank you. This helped because I now know how to use the tools for the job I’m doing.

I have an area where my wood is on 1/2 in thick.. I want to polish off the base of my deck and a sawzall looked a bit aggressive for the small bits to remove.. I am glad I stumbled on this video.. a small simple tool for sharp neatness in a small areas.. this looks like the tool for the job. Thank you.

I keep thinking how much easier this would be if you chiseled the excess- you could use just the saw blade. I came here because I need to cut away a 1950s center upper cabinet so my new frig has a hope of fitting. I have waited and waited for hubby to do it. Not happening. So I first bought a Bauer compact circular saw. It is way too unruly and can't fit where I need to cut . Took off the trim and exposed the body of the cabinets, but then I was stuck. Realized I have screws in various places I need to cut through as well as the bottom shelf and supports and part of the sides (I am keeping the top shelf) . I LOVE my Dremel. I am trying to figure out if there is a blade that will cut both metal (no idea what those screws were made) AND wood. The cupboard isn't made of plywood or chipboard . It is made of sort sort of hardwood. I had a project at a prior house where solid wood (not pine) was involved and the wood burned. I can't have that here. So I am anxious but determined. Any wise counsel would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping someone would have done a video. So many refrigerators today are taller (some wider too) than they were even 10 yrs ago. I am confident if I can remove the bottom shelf and part of the sides and all will be terrific. I wish Dremel made a metal track/fence one could screw in and be able to cut a straight line on any plane. As it is, I figure I will need to makeshift something so I can cut the side of the cabinets. Plan to get the 575 to help me get the bottom shelf out. I have the more of the wood blades like you used. I am worried the nails/screws will cause a problem for me.

This is exactly what I needed. I'm looking to cut some thin sheathing (19/32") into an arcade cabinet and want to be able to cut the wood at precise shapes and angles. Looks like the Dremel is the right tool for my application. Thanks again.

Really good idea to cut wood if you have a dremel but not a saw. Thanks!

Well it will work perfect for cutting the boards I had cut. To long for my use. It's on the 1" thick pine. So I'm good. Thanks, gonna order the tool kit.

for some who Arne't professionals, I guess you could do a majority of the cut with this and leave the centre for a handsaw? that'd be much better than just by hand!

Wouldn't it have been easier to cut the entire first cut then cut with the same wood saw perpendicular to the face of the wood up to the left over middle part. Then you could have continued your cut with the same saw again in the same fashion as the first one?

this is like you want to cut a cake with a toothpick

why cut twice in the same location? It was already being cut .

Not really made for that but it worked. You could have cut the middle to depth as a router with the attachment and then cut the side off at the end, would have been a neater finish.
