I never tried to use my hands before when in the arcade. I own my home version and dance mats and the arcade metal dance pad must very in feedback unless the system has a pressure response setting on the arcade version or home version.

Otherwise I have always used it by my feet. Unless you have to slap it and hitting the arcade version must not feel too comfortable when you're talking about hard plastic and metal.

But there's still a chance that "knowing how China makes things"
Stuff like this is not cheap and due to the arcade version it was built like a tank to handle the overwhelming use. And China probably created a pressure response settings that you can setup.
