If this wasn't voiced by you I would have thought your channel got hacked.

This is the only guy that can make us watch a 12 min ad.

clickbait and feels very corporate/disingenuous. sure cherno loves notion, but this video was a feature list with some forced jokes.
would love to see a genuine, cherno made video about how he uses notion though.
or better yet, an actual "productivity" video, where notion is only a part of it, because notion is only a replacable tool (though they sure try to keep you locked in), not a system.

To get more insight into this, it would be really nice if you can show us, how exactly you and your team are using Notion.

I think it's important to keep in mind that productivity is a very personal thing, and what works for one person may not work for another. So, while it's true that some people may find that using Notion helps them be more productive, it's not necessarily true for everyone.
Productivity isn't just about using the right tools – it's also about developing good habits and practices, such as setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and managing your time effectively. So, while using Notion (or any other tool) can be helpful, it's not the only factor in achieving productivity.

well.

Glad for the sponsorship you're getting, well deserved considering the amount of hours you've put into making free content.
That said, when I realised the whole video was a big long ad I stopped watching

Oh damn, did not expect an ad here.
I'm glad that you're getting sponsors, well deserved for all the awesome work that you did. Keep it up!

I started using notion a year ago from this vid
and to say my engineering school performance exponentially improved would be an understatement
integrated support for drafting equations, code blocks of all languages, images, SYNCED BLOCKS OF TEXT NESTED INTO A COLLABSABLE BULLETIN !!! SOOO GOOD

You know, we used Notion at my last employer and nobody liked it because of the difficulties maintaining the mess we had. I've been using a mix of Obsidian and Trello for the project side of things, and Google Docs and Fade In for the narrative/creative side on my end, but maybe its time I gave Notion another go. Thanks for the video.

This doesn't feel like a Cherno video

All I learned was The Cherno doesn't clearly label ads at the start of the video, in the title or anywhere that's it's immediately obvious. At the end of the description isn't good enough. Doing this regularly is a channel killer, the last thing you want is people questioning when a tutorial channel is being genuine or its a secret ad.

The title is completely misleading. I was expecting something like working out more or reducing irrelevant screen time. This is just an ad about Notion LMAO

*NOTION IS BAD*

I've been using it for more than a year now. It's advertised as a tool that combines tools, but it's mediocre at best for most usage.

One such example are todo tasks. No recurrent tasks? No due dates? No reminders?
For database templates, I had to wait months for a simple usability feature: Have the name of the template be the name of the database entry/page, instead of having to type it out every single time you made a new entry using a template. This has been finally fixed but another issue that hasn't been is, auto-complete for filter fields, when you're in a filtered view of the database and create a new entry through a template. I say "fixed" but it's rather improvements, that if Notion staff actually used their software would see... Notion has been out for 6 years and simple stuff like these are forgotten.
Oh and let's not forget that they finally added progress bars - before, you had to make a messy workaround - but you can't use variables on them! Useless.

Notion is all about messy workarounds and a lot of manual work.

What made me quit though was the synchronisation problems. To be fair I didn't have any for most of my usage, but at one point in the end I could actually see my text disappear in real time. It made me wonder how much of my notes it had lost, and when you have a huge database of notes, you can't rely on unstability. Notion is cloud based, meaning all your data is actually in their servers and never in your devices, meaning you can only access it online. They also lack knowledge on how to handle data if they go around deleting stuff instead of you know... duplicates... if you're too imcompetent to define the most recent version.

Last argument: Your data is accessible to *ANYONE* because it is *NOT ENCRYPTED* .

I said I was still using Notion, and yes I am, because I'm migrating all my stuff from it. Soon gone.

For those who are still reading my rant and want to know a better solution, read the top comment to this.

Video is sponsored by Notion, it says it in the description. Pity you didn't disclose this at the start of the video.

Wow a full 12 minute video of just ads for a random notetaking app. Well I hope you got paid well for that :P

Notion seems pretty cool, I’ll have to check it out. I’m currently using LogSeq and it’s been working great for me. Plus it’s open source, so that’s always nice.

Is there a way to lock notes in notion? like in OneNote?
I've been using notion for journaling that I don't want anyone to see.
