Oil painting - Landscape painting of a mining shack. This is a timelapse video of an alla prima oil painting. In this video you'll see a painting go from a blank canvas to a signed and finished oil painting. Alla Prima painting is a technique that helps an artist be fresh and innovative with paint. It is also the best technique to paint from life. I'll explain elements to pay attention to during the time lapse to better enhance your view time.

Bravo Doug! Don't change your style of painting. I used to paint like you and I was successful for 40 years. Since I was introduced to all of todays techniques, it made me feel that I was not good enough. I quit for quite awhile and I am trying to find my way back again. Great tutorial. Thabk you.

Lovely. I really enjoyed the middle section where the image suddenly transforms from 2D to 3D & the depth builds out of nowhere. Thanks for posting Doug!

I Enjoyed, Love country landscapes and old buildings. Would have like it slower with your thought processes and techniques as you painted. I suppose that’s harder to do and edit. Thanks for your time and sharing. Loved your choice of material, depth of detail an color choices. Will look for more, thanks Again

Very nice job, Doug. I especially liked the amount of time that you spent on the details, after the main forms had been defined. Those details took it to another level.
I was wondering if you had considered doing a commentary instead of the music during the editing process? It wasn't bad, but I just muted it so I could watch the video over and over. Thanks for posting this. It was really good.

Amazing work! I really liked how you explained the background before you started. I have recently started using oil paints and like you said the paint wants to help the artist, totally connect to you what you said. Beautiful finsih to the painting. Really inspiring!!!
