It was my first great component. It could drive 2 Double Advents with little problem. For graduation I got a Yamaha amp & tuner as I had shorted out using my Marantz after bringing it down to a Fraternity party with a Sorority. So I got a Yamaha integrated amp & tuner It was a bit better but didn't look so cool. I also got a Pioneer reel to reel that look way awesome but was hard to use and the tapes would get bent with three or four playings. today, I repurchased two other Marantz receivers. one for the garage and one to attempt to make a quad system with my albums. Four years ago, I found a refurbished a Marantz DC, it is awesome is nearly indestructible. The easiest way to burn up your equipment is to try to bring music to the pool or to a party. They are not made for that and we have ruined 2 or 3 sets of speakers and a couple receivers attempting to do that. I still love the look & performance of Marantz in the 70's. Knowing what I know, I haven't wrecked anything for 10 years. If you can find a professionally rehabed Marantz product you will probably not be disappointed. Steven Pettinga, Indianapolis
