Come watch and I'll show you two ways to make a fitted crib or toddler sheet: one that's quick and fast with exposed elastic; and the other that's also quick and fast, but with a beautiful casing to hide the elastic.

TO MAKE A CUSTOM SIZE SHEET:
Note: You will need to play with the math. This just gives you a general idea:
Take the length and width of your mattress, PLUS the height of your mattress, PLUS however much you want it to tuck under (you prob want it to tuck under a few inches). Then cut a large rectangle of fabric those dimensions (with all those added lengths). Then you need to cut 4 squares from the corners that are the height of your mattress PLUS however much you want the sheet will tuck under/around the mattress. For instance, in my project, the mattress is 6 inches tall, so I cut out the squares 8x8 inches.
Just experiment and see how it goes!

Had to comment to say thank you for this video. Following your concise instructions I was able to make a fitted sheet for our RV's memory foam mattress. It is an odd size and nothing "out of the package" would fit. This solved a huge problem and I feel so proud of myself but really couldn't have done it without your help. Thank you so much!

How exciting to find tutorials that are easy for a newbie and still quick enough for and experienced sewer. I’ve been sewing since I was 11 and I’m 70 now. Some tutorials are directed at one group or the other. You’re great for both. I have made many reversible receiving blankets with burp pads to match for sale in my shop.
