Looks like a quality piece of gear. You did a good job of pointing out and demonstrating the various capabilities it has. As most people stick to trails and open terrain when hiking I can see using it wheel down most of the time. Nice demonstration.

I have daydreamed some designs for an item like this but never tried to make one. Great idea. Well done. biggest challenge for the user will be to resist the temptation to carry too much gear and to think of it as being a way to carry the same gear more comfortably.

Absolutely wonderfully brilliant! I LOVE this bit of trekking gizmo-kit. If I were still able-bodied I'd buy one in a NY second. I could see an electric hub-motor, li-ion battery, controller and solar-powered charger as useful and practical options. Why not? GREAT design, refinements and quality materials here. Top KUDUS!!!

Stellar review, makes me wish I could still hike. i used to love the adventuring of back-woods trail traveling. I dearly miss having 2-legged mobility ~ I don't feel adequate or competent since. Use it before you lose it, guys.
Peace and light!

Thank you for a really well put together demonstration. A very interesting product and like you say the more minds working on the concept the better the end product.Regards Ross

A really thorough review. I really liked how you walked over some really rocky and steep terrain. That tells me a lot. I could probably make one, but it would cost over $600 in parts alone. I have found that generally, these high quality items are priced right, once you look into raw materials. I definitely need to look at getting one. It would be really helpful when I take the kids backpacking.

I gotta have one of these! That's definitely a game changer! Yes it's expensive but you'd be begging for it if you had to bug out on foot. Much easier than that good ole shopping cart that folks will be pushing. But also for those who are looking to get into backpacking like myself this would allow me to bring more gear as i learned what works and doesn't work when by myself backpacking. Thanks for the review!

Thanks Canadian Prepper. Thanks for the great video product review. Looking at this video, I made this truck for yourself.

Since I am on the mend from shoulder surgery on 9/9 I see lots benefits. I could see adpating a single shoulder strap for load support. Even with upper extremity injury ucan haul ur gear.
Excellented review.

Thanks Canadian Prepper, Excellent video, One quick point, excellent device if one is required to carry another person surveil gear such as a wife/husband with cancer or special needs child. The price of any high quality item for surveil, is a formula of needs, how important is this item in attaining my goal vs my budget. Love Freedom

As a husband and father of three small children, I can see how a trailer similar to this needs to be a part of our plan. But dang! $1000? That's steep. Worth it? Yeah, probably, but at that price point I might have to get creative.

I think for a family of five like myself, the trailer would be utilized to carry equipment that couldn't easily be carried by my wife and I. IF we had to bug out on foot, my wife will probably be wearing our littlest in wrap on her back, and she would be pushing the toddlers in a stroller--which leaves me to be the family sherpa. I'd have a backpack on, but we'd need another way to carry her pack--enter the BOHT (bug out hiking trailer). Her pack and a large, family sized tent, would be on the trailer, along with some extra stuff that would make surviving a little bit more like camping. If we had to ditch the trailer, I think she'd have to carry the littlest on her front with her pack on her back.

Thanks for the great video product review. I wish that was available when I was younger and in better shape. LOL Looks like the waist belt needs some ventilation system to keep is comfortable on long treks.

You gave an awesome pro's & con's review which the manufacturer should find very useful! Hopefully this will go into production; initially it will be the Mountain Equipment Co-op (and overseas equivalent) crowd who will be able to afford this; with larger production runs, perhaps the price would drop to a more affordable (and justifiable) $500 CDN.

Hey, there's a growing demographic who could really use the Monowalker: the senior citizen outdoors men and women! The Monowalker's removal of so much weight from a hiker's joints could enable people to keep on pursuing their passion of the outdoors deep into old age...

Nice vid, man! I like the product, yes it could use some improvements, but pretty solid configuration for the purpose that it is intended to serve. Best part about the video is that you are intelligent, articulate, realistic, and unbiased. Cheers!

I love that you reviewed this "walker" and that we all got to see it. It is just sad that is cost so dang much and even sadder that you were adamant about not trying to make our own. WOW, I get it that you may have been given this one to market to us, but for the idea to boldly tell NOT to try to copy this one... just gets to me.

This is a Great looking product and I wish I had one. But I will not be buying one...
I would hold that we don't need one either. But if I do, I would still love to see one made for half the cost.

As for the TIRE, could you not just fill it with foam of green slim and have is never get a flat?

To me the proportions of components make more sense on the Monowalker Trailmate Hikingtrailer, and it's 2.5 kilos lighter. I have neck and back issues, and this seems like a good way to extend my ability to hike where a pack just may not work. I'm fortunate to have pretty good knees. The bike trailer option is also useful to me.
