I've always heard about the discrimination of the cover letter by address. In the past, I don't know if people still do it, they use to use a middle class or upper class area of the country as their address, a relative or friend's sometimes. But as always, the info is boss. Thanks, Jeff!

NEVER use TLA's! (three letter acronyms).

Unfortunately, none of this matters. My wife works in HR and she doesn't even look at cover letters or resumes. They use software that automatically scans everything for buzzwords.
Also, "oh, this person didn't include their address which 99% applicants typically do. They must be lazy. DENIED."

The biggest tip I can say is don't include jobs that don't apply to the position you're applying for. So many people will apply for an IT position and include that they worked for McDonald's on their resume.
