In SW Florida, a gator can climb a fence equal to its total length. A 6 foot gator easily climbs a 6 foot high fence.

Mississippian here. I’ve seen an alligator try and eat a floatie before, go through a doggy door, chase my lab (thankfully he got to the house in time. I’ve never shut a door so fast 😅), climb a fence, and eat an oar. There’s nothing they won’t at least try

I was born and raised in St Petersburg Florida so I've definitely seen a gator climb a fence.. a taller fence than that too
