New Suzuki Jimny Pickup: A Revolution in The Pickup World! What Do You Think?

In the current American market, only two tiny pickup trucks are available: the Hyundai Santa Cruz, produced in the United States, and the Ford Maverick, manufactured in Mexico. The Hyundai Santa Cruz, a four-door compact pickup truck, has injected new vitality into the US compact pickup truck segment after a prolonged absence. Built on the Tucson crossover SUV platform with a unibody chassis, it is manufactured by HMMA in Montgomery, Alabama. Resembling a crossover SUV with a removable bed, it shares many similarities with the fourth-generation NX4 Tucson.

Following suit, Ford introduced its competitor, the Maverick, aiming to break sales records in another truck sector. The Maverick has been an instant success, thanks to its affordable price tag (owing to its Mexican production) and robust build derived from the Ranger and F-150 trucks, rather than the Bronco Sport and Escape crossovers.

However, neither the Santa Cruz nor the Maverick can truly be considered "compact." The Santa Cruz measures 4,970 mm (195.7 in) in length, while the Maverick is even longer at 5,072 mm (199.7 in). This raises the question of what defines a small pickup truck, at least in the realm of imagination for digital automotive enthusiasts.

Enter Theottle, an internet sensation known for transforming the Suzuki Jimny into a "little" pickup truck using computer-generated imagery (CGI). Drawing inspiration from the Jeep Gladiator, the virtual makeover seamlessly integrates the rugged and boxy aesthetics of the tiny Japanese SUV with elements of the Gladiator. The Jimny's larger wheelbase naturally complements its robust appearance.

In light of Suzuki's potential return to the US market with this Jimny pickup truck concept, one might wonder if it could serve as a viable alternative to larger models like the Ford Ranger or Chevrolet Montana. While the Santa Cruz and Maverick cater to specific market segments, the Jimny pickup could carve out its niche by offering a truly compact and versatile option for consumers seeking off-road capability and urban maneuverability.

If Suzuki were to introduce the Jimny pickup to the global market, it could attract a niche audience looking for a practical yet adventurous vehicle. Its compact size, rugged design, and off-road prowess could make it a compelling choice for consumers seeking a capable and efficient pickup truck.

Keep it simple, reliable and most important of all, AFFORDABLE. We will buy it. Fancy symbols of affluence do not do a darn bit of good for those of us without affluence.

Last time Suzuki came to America, they tried to sell sedans... to compete with Toyota and Honda.... HEY SUZUKI... "STAY IN YOUR LANE" build these little trucks, and YOU WILL put a lock on the Tacoma factory door... Meaning you will STEAL THEIR BASE.... DO IT, I DARE YOU...

The Jimny still lives outside of the US market. I drove a 2023 in Guatemala last year…they are awesome!….sure with Suzuki wouldn’t have gotten sued out of the country…

That’s what Toyota should be making. Remember, Jeep sued Suzuki saying they were dangerous and top heavy. So I doubt Suzuki will ever come back and the EPA will be sure of it.

Suzuki needs to bring that truck here.

Definitely build it and keep it simple. I mean that's what overland and desert crawlers need when going out. Something that can be fixed on the trail not weighing 3 tons.
