Grumman F-14A Tomcat US Navy Fighter Weapons School, TOPGUN 30, NAS Miramar, CA, 1995, Century Wings

In 1969, the US Navy established its Fighter Weapons School (NFWS), more popularly known as TOPGUN, at NAS Miramar, California. Its objective was to develop, refine and teach air combat maneuvering tactics and techniques to selected fleet air crews flying against aggressor squadrons. The aggressor aircraft are flown by TOPGUN instructors in a way that simulates the tactics and capabilities of air forces deemed most likely to be a threat to the US.

These adversary aircraft are typically painted to simulate aircraft from air forces that pose a threat to the United States at the time of training. In 1995, F-14A Build Number 159885 was painted in a blue-splinter paint scheme, representing an Su-35 Flanker of the Russian Air Force.
And this aircraft is the subject of this video. Produced by Century Wings in 1:72 diecast it is a fantastic representation of that aircraft. With a limited 800 pieces made this makes it a must have for any Tomcat collector.

That’s some great detail work. The inside of the landing gear doors has a pattern. The cockpit has the ejection loops properly striped. Incredible for a Diecast replica.

F-14 is one of the best no doubt, IMHO. Super nice model. I have a HM F-14 & it's beautiful too. Calibre Wings also makes a gorgeous F-14. Thanks for the review

The century wings F14s are SUPURB! Probably the best made but I do also like my old Dragon Tomcats! Simpler but well done for 2006...

Great video as always! Century Wings produces some of the nicest models i’ve ever seen. My favourite has to be the CW SR-71 Blackbird. It takes up a lot space but boy is it beautiful.

I just realized you never ended up reviewing the other Century Wings F-14 Top Gun model! Unless you took it down from your channel?

I haven't gotten the F-14 from the Century Wings model yet, but I just wanted to point out a few things. Century Wings makes excellent Tomcats; in my opinion, they're the same as the tooling of Hobby Master; the only distinct differences are just the packaging and a few other options. I've got the Hobby Master Tomcat and the witty wings. In my opinion, witty wings are top-notch; there is a little intention in the details here and there, if you noticed; however, everyone has a different perspective on these models.
