So glad you did this video and dispelled a lot of myths!! I also have a 2002 S-Type 3.0 (and a 2000 XKR) with over 170, 000 original miles and still running strong. The drivetrain and braking system is essentially Lincoln LS/Ford Thunderbird (Ford is even prominently stamped on the inside of the airbox and most of the electrical parts, the key is even Ford Taurus). In 18yrs, I refreshed the front suspension 2yrs ago (barely 1000 bucks including labor), replaced the fuel pump 3yrs ago (50 bucks from Trak Auto), heater control valve, a very common issue on Lincoln LS's (50.00 bucks) very easy to replace. Pretty much these are parts that are just aging-out, not failing. The original battery which was a Ford battery lasted 10yrs!! Bottom line is Jags from the Ford era are great cars, low maintenance, classically styled (I get compliments on the car almost every day) and fun to drive. And if OM/OEM parts are purchased from FCP Euro the replacement parts are free FOREVER!

Scotty...you are "right on"...I found a gem of a 2005 Jaguar S-Type with only 25, 000 miles with the 3.0 V6 about 4 years ago. Bought it for my wife...she LOVES it. It now has 70, 000 miles and there have been NO drivetrain or serious issues. I would do it all over again.

If you want a Jaguar, buy one but keep some change to cover eventual repairs. Maintain them correctly!

I have one too, a 2006 S-type 3.0 I bought it with 57, 000 miles... and it had one previous owner who did all the maintenance. It ride fantastic, little no maintenance, and I have an extended warranty for my own peace of mind!

I bought a 2007 Jaguar S Type 3.0 six years ago w/52K miles. Now 40K miles later, the car has been flawless! It's great to drive and still turns heads. A terrific highway cruiser. I do get 27MPG at 70MPH on the highway.

My girlfriend had one for years and loved it. Put many miles on it. Now has a 2007 vadim plas xj with 50k miles used and it is a looker. Much admired wherever she goes and asked if its for sale. She loves it!!!

I grew up always wanting a Jaguar, and several years ago I nearly bought a S-Type. But, at the time I had two small children, and etc etc I bought a Highlander. My Highlander is a fantastic car, but it's not a Jaguar.

Yes Scotty I have a S type and it has been a good car for me for 4 years now. It's very comfortable it's very fast it's got the 4.0 engine and it has been pretty Dependable no real problems. I did have to rebuild the transmission but that is kind of standard in the cars as they age. But other than that I haven't had to do anything to it besides maintenance. Never leaves me stranded. And I do appreciate the traction control and the comfort of driving it around and it's pretty stylish. I agree with you completely about the X-Type they had a lot of trouble with the Transmissions and the drivetrain. Thank you for your channel, nice stuff on here

I recently bought a Jaguar S-type 4.0 V8, it's faster than I expected and it has wonderful handling. I fitted a custom exhaust system and now it sounds like a proper modern muscle car.
