Using the Esbit & Trangia Stoves

My friend Tim (Steintanz on YouTube) made a video on the Esbit stove.
This peaked my interest since it was also designed to use an Esbit alcohol burner which is a knock off of the Trangia ... my favorite Alcohol Stove! That sealed the deal as far as me giving it a try. I was not disappointed.

I ordered a Trangia and the Esbit Pot Stand after seeing this video. It looks like a really light weight, and effective set up. Can't wait to try it out backpacking in Sam Houston National Forest next month.

Im starting a AT thru hike in alittle over a year.  Funny thing is i just bought a whole esbit cook set including stove.  Everything i have read sent me there way, so i was glad to see your video and that it backs up what has been said.  Thanks from one hiker to another!!

Pretty sweet! I've used the trangia for years and love it. I have always been looking for other pot stands that would work for it and this is perfect. Recently I made a trangia inspired penny stove that fits the trangia's stand. Now I think I have found the perfect companion for it. Thanks bud!

That's an excellent vid .... I use allsorts of small stoves ... wood and spirit including the trangia but didn't know about that esbit shield idea its on my shopping list now ... atb and stay safe ... Jim

Yeah, you have to go with what you like. I have never had a problem with a pot falling off the TT though, and the slightly larger size gives you some simmering capability. But as I have Trangia that is 40 years old I also have the older "fold over" simmering ring. Not as adaptable and not snuffing but works great for getting about half effect.

Ohhhh, what the ...? I missed this one completely, sorry about that. I just found it by chance a minute ago. - I see there's lots more life in your kettle than soot on mine :o) (I told him all that smoking would kill him one day!)

Trangia has come out with their own triangle now. As Esbit has been ripping them off for ages; Trangia did it to them. :D The TT also fits the swedish military burner and the gasburner.

Thanks a bunch for a great little demo on some really practical stuff. I really like those trangia stoves and with the esbit stand it's just about perfect. So as soon as I scrape some more pennies together, I may just have to get one... : o)

I have this set up but with the Esbit's version of the Trangia stove. It works great!!!!

Very nice. If you want to be able to use the simmer ring too, the Clikstand is a similar concept (Esbit/Trangia) but has a wider interior section to allow room for the simmer ring. Not sure which came first, the Esbit stove or the Clikstand.

Nice little stove/stand and I like that the pieces are all the same with a nice little lock tab system. I've never tried a Trangia, maybe I should?

Have you measured the distance bottom of pot to top of Trangia? It looks a little tall to hit the 1 inch sweet spot that alcohol in the video.  Would you publish the measurement?
