Rather than banning rim-breaks I would like to see UCI taking care of regulations for race organizers e.g. cars coming on the course and riders crashing into them or more stable barriers at the finish so sprinters dont get smashed into pieces when they push each other. -- These are actually things that concern me, not íf someone likes to ride rim or disc.

Hi BlueIsTooAwesome here, the Rainbow Unicorn bike builder here. For those wondering the first image was not the before photo. It was an extremely rusty bike that I had to do a full overhaul of. The full build process is available on my profile on the GCN app. Also in regards to Manon's submission it is still an upgrade and regardless of her popularity, being employed at GCN, and if she wins or loses, you should still be kind to her and still appreciate what she has done for her submission. Best of luck to her ♥ and thank you for having my submission make it onto #GCNTech

Ban them. Get everyone off of rim brakes.
Then in 10 years re release rim brakes as new light weight tech ££££

UCI banning rim brakes only serves the benefit of Bike sponsors to sell new bikes. Rim Brakes could still innovate with better materials and braking surfaces. The components makers isn’t just pouring any R&D effort into rim brakes. Since the bike brands is pushing disk brakes on their new bikes.

Didn’t Roglic crash twice on a dry descent last weekend on disc breaks while other riders with rim breaks did not???? So... no rim breaks should not be banned. #longlivetherimbreak

So... Has Ollie dropped his fixie/single spēed project?

The issue of disc brakes making bikes heavier counters the argument of UCI lowering bike weights manufacturers just need to make lighter bikes to meet the 6.8 limit

The fact you can "switch around" a safety argument shows that it's not a valid argument. at all....the real motivator behind pushing disc brakes is NOT safety but profit.

Oliver Bridgewood gets paid to talk rubbish it’s official.
Fun fact GCN did a video a few years ago to introduce disc brakes and in the first few minutes Si Richardson directly says “disc brake bikes will not be as fast or as responsive as rim” referring to the 415mm chain stays that’s disc bikes had when they first came out (410mm nowadays, still a joke though should 405mm)
...and Oliver (am a shill for sale and should be banned from returning to Yorkshire) Bridgewoods new canyon super bike has 415mm chain stays.
Well done cycle industry reintroducing bike geometry from the 90’s...

With direct mount rim brakes, even on carbon rims, I can brake harder than my tires have grip. Rim brakes are not a limiting factor except when you're descending in the rain

Ollie, We need an update on the "Count Down Clock" that started a couple of year's ago with you and John on the "Death of the Rim Brake". How much time is left on the Maybe that is the time UCI will change the rules?

honestly alex, on the retro bike upgrade video, i was upset when you convert the bike to disc. Why not just put the newer dual pivot rim brakes?

Any chance of a story about the limited supply on components? I've been trying to get a Shimano R7000 groupset for ages but they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

I'd be ok with neutral service only provide disc, but it's stupid to ban rim brakes

6:12 - I also believe mounting disc brakes to the rim brake frame using various kinds of adaptors/clams/etc. is not the best idea either.

I don't care too much for rim vs disk brakes, but I can agree with Ollie on the love of Colnago Masters (my dad has 2, one of which is an ex-race frame and the other is in an original paint job)

You can save around 500g by using rim brake. Why not use this saving to install a dropper seatpost and be able to use the supertuck and still have a 6.8 kg bike. This seems like a better setup overall for performance.
